Vayshali Kothari

I was born and brought up in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and later  spent a majority of childhood between Rajkot and Bombay, India. Growing up between many distinct cultures has  definitely shaped who I am; I've learned to convey the backgrounds, experiences, and cultures I've lived through my art.

 

I studied graphic design and illustration at Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai and later studied classical animation at Sheridan College, Canada. I worked as a computer animator and artist designing TV commercials at UTV. I have been teaching art and painting, besides freelancing for past 17 yrs in San Jose, California.

 

Although I've had extensive experience with animation and motion design, painting is truly what I love doing. Ever since I was little, the idea of working towards  exploring and expressing a feeling, idea or a belief via colors has always intrigued me. Painting is truly a conceptual and symbolic journey for me.

 

My goal is to make a difference and convey meaningful messages with my art.
